Kenneth Pavlinec, PT, Cert MDT – Graduated Cum Laude from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT in 1997. Course work included gross anatomy at Yale. Over 15 years experience in an outpatient setting and local regional trauma center and excelled as a Senior Level I therapist for acute, outpatient, and home care environments. In 2001, became one of approximately 750 Certified MDT McKenzie specialists in the world for treatment of pain of spinal origin. Extensive continuing education focused on “hands-on” therapy utilizing mobilization techniques for all joints. Extensive athletic background consisting of baseball, football, basketball, track and field, cross-country, marathon, road races and triathlons which make these personal experiences contribute to sports specific rehabilitation that is immeasurable.  Ken is looking to qualify for the NYC Marathon in 2010 and the Boston Marathon in 2011.  Member of the American Physical Therapy Association(APTA), Orthopedic Practice Section of the APTA, Private Practice Section of the APTA, and the McKenzie Institute USA. Karen J. Schechter, PT / TMJ Specialist – Graduated from Daemon College in 1989 majoring in physical therapy with a minor in Biology and Psychology. Karen has over 22 years experience as a physical therapist, instructor and clinical coordinator in multiple clinical settings of outpatient orthopedics, home care, school based therapy, and pediatrics. Karen has obtained a specialization from UMDNJ for Orofacial and TMJ Disorders and has experience in rehabilitation of Bowel and Bladder Dysfunction. She has a focus of manual soft tissue techniques and myofascial release. Karen is a proud memeber of the American Physical Therapy Association(APTA), Orthopedic Section of the APTA and Pediatric Section of the APTA.
Kerry L. Walsh, PT, MS – Kerry graduated from Springfield College in 1995 with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy. She specializes in treating children with a variety of diagnoses including Torticollis, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Integration Disorders, developmental delay, and various other neurological and orthopedic conditions at our Toms River location. Kerry utilizes her 18 years of experience with a concentration in the 0-3 population. Kerry practiced in a wide variety of pediatric settings including NICU, acute care, home based Early Intervention, outpatient, and long term care rehabilitation. In addition she has worked at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River, NJ and continues to serve at a co-facilitator of their Autism Support Group. She utilizes both clinical expertise and extensive course work in NDT,MFR, Craniosacral Therapy and Sensory Integration to provide her patients with comprehensive manual care. Kerry has been the guest speaker at several conferences for early childhood educators and most recently was a co-presenter for “Evaluation and Treatment of the Child with Autism” at the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association Annual Conference. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Pediatrics Section of the APTA, as well as the New Jersey Physical Therapy Association. Kerry is active in her community and has served as the assistant director of Maternal Wings Charity for Expectant Mothers since its inception in 2007. In addition she utilizes her experience as the parent of a child with Autism to assist other parents embarking on the journey.
Beth A Kennedy, MPT – Beth is a Master’s graduate from Quinnipiac University in 2005. She has over 9 years experience in outpatient physical therapy. Beth will be obtaining her certification in manual therapy at the end of 2014 (COMT). Beth runs our Brick facility and specializes in manual therapy. In her social circle, Beth enjoys time with her dog, going away frequently and getting large outings organized with friends. beth
Chad M. Alazio – Chad has been with Hands on Physical Therapy since February 2011. He is certified in: * Personal Adult Fitness * Older Adult Fitness * Sports Nutrition Consulting * Weight Management Consulting. He received his education through American Aerobic Association International (AAAI) and International Sports Medicine Association (ISMA) and has been certified since 2005. Chad has an infectious passion for designing exercise and nutrition programs that maximize workout efficiency, improve fitness, increase staminaand develop an overall sense of well being. His transcending ability to coach and motivate clients and create an environment where wellness goals are heard, nutured and executed produce lifetime results. Jane Smetts – Jane joined Hands-On Physical Therapy in 2007, Practice Administrator for both offices and she is the office administrator for the 400 New Hampshire Ave. office in Lakewood. She was camp director in Farmingdale, NJ and has been actively involved in the Girl/Boy Scouts of America for 20 years. In Jane’s spare time, she enjoys quilting and gardening. She was awarded a certificate of Master Gardener from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Jane and her husband Joe have three children. Jane
Joann Jackson – Joann joined our staff as a PT aide in 2005. She received a certificate for a PT aide at Ocean County College in 2004. When she is not at work, Joann enjoys baking, drawing, painting, riding ATV’s, caring for her pet pig, “Piggy Sue”, and traveling with her husband. Joann Jackson
Danielle Smetts OTR/L, OT –  Danielle graduated from University of Science (Philadelphia) in 2012. SHe was originally an aide at Hands On Physical Therapy many years ago and now returns to add occupational therapy to our services. Danielle is currently working towards her PHD and certification in Hand Therapy (CHT). She specializes in splitting and hand therapy. Danielle on the side is involved in nutrition and the Isagenix product line. Danielle
Andrew Grando – Andrew completed his undergraduate education with an interdepartmental major in Biology and Psychology at Moravian College. While there, Andrew also focused on his passion for athletics, playing football and achieving All-Conference Honors and the distinction of the title of captain his senior year. After college, Andrew began to develop his career working as an aid at Hands On Physical Therapy, and graduated from Rutgers University in 2014 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Andrew developed a passion for research and education while at Rutgers working as a Gross Anatomy and Neuroscience teaching assistant in addition to serving as a research assistant in the Rivers Lab where he developed and conducted research projects involving mental imagery, virtual reality, and 3D imaging for stroke patients.  During this time he also continued to hone his clinical skills completing affiliations in acute, sports-based outpatient, hospital-based outpatient, and pediatric care. In addition to his core course work, Andrew also focused on community outreach during his time at Rutgers participating in a free physical therapy clinic for members of the Newark community as well as Wellness for Life, an outreach program serving the physical therapy needs of the mentally ill. Andrew plans to pursue his Orthopedic and Sports Clinical Specializations in the next three years, and is excited to bring his passion for the field to Hands On Physical Therapy full time. David Parisi – David has been a physical therapy aide for our Toms River and Lakewood offices since 2010. David has a B.A. in Psychology. David is an avid sports sports enthusiast and has coached soccer. David is interested in a wide variety of music from classical to rock . David is currently obtaining his degree as a physical therapy assistant.
Darlene Rosa – Darlene Rosa is a receptionist at our Toms River office. She has a passion for holistic healthcare. Darlene has two years of college accounting and has received over 15 awards and achievements with the Lacey twp. Board of Education. She enjoys being a wife and mother and always finds the time to help others. In her free time she enjoys fishing, boating, going to the gym and enjoying the Jersey Shore with friends and family. She is noted for loving Post-it notes.
